About Landform Projects.
Landform Projects was founded in 2018 by Richard Wise, whose career spans more than 30 years in geotechnical field testing, site investigation, landscape architecture, and geology.

After decades working across Canterbury in roles such as Contracts Manager at McMillan Drilling, Operations Manager at Texco Drilling, and Technical Manager and shareholder at Geotech Consulting Technical Ltd, Richard saw the opportunity to create a company that brings all these disciplines together under one roof.

That vision became Landform Projects. A locally owned business built on experience, precision, and a genuine passion for understanding the ground we work with. Richard’s hands-on approach and multidisciplinary background mean every project benefits from both technical expertise and practical insight.

Today, Landform Projects provides specialist geotechnical field testing and site investigation services throughout Canterbury. As the business has grown, Landform Projects has expanded its capability to include GIS mapping and spatial data analysis, integrating high-accuracy GPS data with geospatial tools. This allows the team to produce precise topographical maps, cross sections, and visual datasets that enhance reporting accuracy and help communicate ground conditions more effectively.

Alongside his work in the field, Richard is also passionate about inspiring the next generation - mentoring young professionals and lecturing part-time at Te PÅ«kenga (Ara – Christchurch).
